My mission statement is to provide relief from muscular pain and stress for both horses and humans, helping both, to live in harmony with themselves and each other, to move naturally with ease, suppleness and grace.
I have had many years experience in the health industry, helping people. I was an accredited aerobic instructor, managing three aerobic centres, leading 14 classes per week. I studied human anatomy, bio mechanics of movement, exercise physiology and Bowen Therapy. Shorty after, I worked as an easy slim lecturer, focusing on nutriention and exercises.
A few years later I started practising as a councillor working with all ages on a variety of emotional and psychological issues. In my spare time, I, still to this day, enjoy the company and companionship of my horses. They teach us so much about leadership and compassion.
These experiences are what lead me to studying two accredited diplomas in Bowen Therapy; one for humans and one for horses.
I believe to be able to live a full and happy life, one must be reasonably pain and stress free. It's the same with horses. For a horse to be a safe and honest one, and to be able to participate in a partnership with a human successfully, he also must be pain and stress free.
I believe that that all my years of experience are now being utilised as an intuitive and successful body worker. Every treatment is unique depending on what is required.
ABOUT THE TREATMENTS
The treatments are a mixture of Bowen Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy and Massage.
Bowen Therapy utilizes a technique called cross fibre manipulation. To execute the move, one must, with pressure, push down against the muscle, in order to manipulate or stretch the muscle to release tension/stiffness, increase circulation and re-hydration, release toxins, increase range of movement, and finally decrease pain levels. This method has a great reputation for really getting into those deep layers of muscle and breaking up those nasty knots we sometimes feel in our muscles
Trigger Point Therapy is very useful when is come to those pain spots that just won't go away. This treatment focuses on recognising and isolating pain patterns caused by sore muscles, then treating that particular area according to the symptoms. This treatment has had great success with chronic injuries and long term pain. It helps to treat damage in deep tissue.
Massage has many uses, I mainly use it for relaxation and emotional / stress release when required. It also helps with posture problems, when muscles have build up tension from static lifestyles generally due to working at a desk, or sitting in a truck. This helps the muscles to become more flexible, you tend to feel like you have turn into jelly, and however, “beware!” this treatment may make you very sleepy!
